With school typically starting back in August we want to give working moms some organization tips for this upcoming school year. Balancing work responsibilities and managing your children’s schedules can be challenging, but with a little planning and some practical tips, you can set yourself up for a smooth transition. Here are five organization tips to help working moms stay on top of their game during the back-to-school period.

Our top 5 organization tips for moms

1. Establish a family calendar

Creating a shared family calendar is crucial for keeping everyone informed and on the same page. Utilize online calendar apps or even a physical wall calendar that everyone can access. Include important dates such as school events, extracurricular activities, and your work commitments. Encourage family members to add their schedules and obligations to maintain transparency and avoid conflicts. Don’t forget to add you maintenance appointments to your calendar so everyone can see self care for mom.

2. Plan ahead

Effective planning is essential for a well-organized back-to-school experience. Take some time each week to plan meals, schedule appointments, and lay out your outfits for the week ahead. Prepare lunches and snacks in advance, using meal prepping techniques to save time and reduce stress during busy mornings. Make sure to schedule your next appt with your stylist before you leave for your next one.0 A little preparation goes a long way in helping you and your family start each day smoothly.

3. Centralized Command Center

Designate a central area in your home as a command center for important documents, school supplies, and other essentials. Use a bulletin board or a wall-mounted organizer to keep track of permission slips, school newsletters, and other forms like appointment reminders for your hair appointments at Garnish. Allocate a specific spot for backpacks, lunch boxes, and jackets to avoid last-minute searches in the morning rush. This centralized hub will help you and your children find what you need quickly and stay organized throughout the school year.

4. Establish Routines

Routines provide structure and help streamline your day-to-day activities. Establish morning and evening routines that allow you to manage your time effectively. Wake up a little earlier to have some quiet time for yourself, and encourage your children to follow a consistent bedtime routine. Allocate specific time slots for homework, chores, family activities, and self-care. Having established routines reduces decision-making and ensures that everyone knows what to expect, creating a more harmonious environment. If you’re as busy as most of the moms, schedule a maintenance routine based on stylist recommendation.

5. Delegate and Outsource

Working moms often find it challenging to balance their professional and personal responsibilities. Don’t be afraid to delegate tasks and seek help when needed. Don’t hesitate to outsource tasks that you can do yourself like a blow out and treatments. Bring your work to Garnish with you! This is a space where you can relax but also work if needed. Engage your children in age-appropriate household chores, such as making their beds or setting the table. Consider hiring a cleaning service or utilizing meal delivery services occasionally to alleviate some of the burdens. Remember, it’s okay to ask for support and share the workload to maintain a healthy work-life balance.
