Growth and Change are not easy.

In fact, sometimes they are up all night, tear-inducing, not sure if you’re still on the right path because it just feels so HARD kind of experiences. Over the last year, you have watched our salon change and grow as we have relentlessly chosen to follow our passion for hair extensions and how they are able to change womens’ lives. Seeing the end results make all of the difficult “growing pains” worth it, and we LOVE being able to pour into our passion, and the amazing women with which it connects us.

Hair Extensions

Through the transition of our studio, there has been a shining light of dedication to the vision and willingness to put in the work to really level up as an artist and leader. Today we wanted to reflect that light back on that person and give you all a little insight into our Lead Stylist, Niko Jones.

The Lead Stylist position came about with the newly transitioned Garnish Extension Studio. Our new team members were either in the Garnish Academy or new to extensions, and we knew there was an opportunity for them to have someone to support them in their growth. As the senior stylist and person with the most experience after Candice, Niko was the perfect fit for this role. Transitioning from being a team member to being a team leader can often be a challenge, but Niko took this new role in stride and has really poured into each of her new team members to help them thrive within Garnish.

Niko has dedicated her time and energy to becoming an integral part in the education of our Garnish Academy apprentices, along with helping guide our new stylists in their journey towards becoming extension specialists. She has also become one of the leading experts in curly hair extensions within the Natural Beaded Rows extension brand, and has been cultivating educational content specifically for curlies and how to wash, style, and maintain their curls with or without extensions.

We are so thankful to have Niko’s bright light and passion for hair as a leading part of our studio, and we know that if you sit in her chair you will feel the same. To schedule a consultation with Niko, you can visit and request Niko Jones at the bottom of the application.

A Special Message from Christine Woods

Dear clients,

I am so excited to share the news that I have been promoted to Senior Director of Garnish! Your faith in me has inspired me in ways you can’t imagine. Your trust in my artistic process has allowed me to fulfill my dream of creating art everyday for “work”. 🙂 I’m so happy to have your continued support through this journey!

If you follow us on Social Media you may have already seen that Christine Woods recently earned a promotion. In honor of this fabulous occasion, we thought we would shine a little spotlight on our new Senior Director.

Determined and passionate from the very beginning, Christine started her hair career at the Emerald Academy (a Paul Mitchell School). After school she had the opportunity to assist multiple stylists, learning and growing from each to enhance her career. Christine met Candice when they worked together at a previous salon, and already Candice knew Christine had a unique drive and artistry. When Candice created Garnish, she brought Christine along, and Christine became one of the 3 Garnish OGs.

Exceptional attention to detail, and an extensive understanding of the science and theory behind cuts and colors sets Christine apart as a stylist. She not only has the ability to explain the color process in detail while still making it easy to understand, but she is always willing to take the time to do so. From the very beginning at Garnish, Christine has been committed to growing as a stylist, constantly pushing herself to learn new techniques and hone her artistic talents. She consistently strives to surpass guest expectations.

Christine brings her innate artistic abilities to her work behind the chair, specializing in the most creative of coloring techniques: balayage, hand painting, and creative color (if you’re not familiar with hair terms, that’s the pretty rainbow colors you see in her gallery). If you want a stylist who is passionate about hair, takes the art of hair seriously, and will go above and beyond to take care of you and your hair—Christine is your gal.

Here at Garnish our stylists earn promotions on more than just “numbers”. Beyond their established goals, the stylists also need to meet certain standards of guest satisfaction, client retention, and artistry. Christine’s intense commitment to each of these important categories has allowed her to excel through the stylist levels to reach her new position as Senior Director. We could not be more proud to have Christine as a part of our team.

Want to see the artistry for yourself? Don’t just take our word for it…Check out Christine’s Portfolio.

Blowouts always look fabulous— if they’re done correctly. While your stylist may be a blowout master, your attempts to recreate this look at home never seem to look as good, no matter what you do, you can’t seem to get the hang of it. So how do you get that salon blowout at home? Garnish has foolproof system for you that’s sure to make your lovely tresses look amazing!

1.) Towel Dry:
The first step to getting a better blowout is to gently towel dry your hair by squeezing out the excess water. Don’t ruff up your hair with your towel.

2.) Use Protection:
Always make sure to apply a heat protectant before blow-drying your hair. Using a heat protectant will prevent your hair from damage such as split ends and breakage. Garnish recommends Davine’s Melu Heat Protectant Shield, ideal for protecting all types of hair from stress caused by heated styling tools.

3.) Add “Damp Hair” Styling Products:
Depending on your hair type and what your stylist has recommended, you will want to apply any styling products that require application to “damp” or “towel dried” hair now. One of our favorite newer products for all hair types that reduces blow dry time while adding shine to your hair is Davines’ Your Hair Assistant BlowDry Primer

4.) Use The Right Brush:
Using the right brush is is probably one of the most important and overlooked aspects to obtaining a gorgeous blowout. Ask your stylist which type of brush is ideal for your hair. A round brush smooths and styles your hair as you dry it and allows for control. They are ideal for creating curls and adding volume. A paddle brush is great for smoothing hair, detangling, cutting down on frizz, and straightening your ends. They are also ideal for ladies with extensions. Garnish recommends the Hafexi Collective’s ZiZu brushes for their high quality and excellent results.

5.) Use A Quality Hairdryer:
Using a dryer that is going to evenly dry your hair with enough heat as well as reduce damage is crucial! We love the ZiZi Joon hairdryer by Hafexi Collective. This turbo tormalionic dryer is perfect for styling all hair types. It evenly distributes heat and is one of the most powerful dryers on the market that. This dryer will tame even the most stubborn hair for a smoothed effect while keeping your hair healthy and shiny.

6.) The Technique:
If you have bangs, that’s the first place to start. Dry those first. Then, divide combed hair into sections and secure with clips. Make sure you are pointing the nozzle downward towards the hair shaft. By doing this, you will seal the cuticle and help reduce frizz. The last step for each section is to pull hair taut with the brush and blast it with cool air from your dryer.

7.) Smooth It Out:
Once you’re done drying your hair, apply a smoothing gloss to tame any flyways that remain. Sometimes, your baby hairs just won’t cooperate, and a smoothing product is a perfect way to put to tame those tiny little beasts. We like O&M’s Project Sukuri because it delivers a smooth, glossy, and featherlike softness to the hair.

8.) Top It Off:
Now that you have a salon perfect blow-dry you will want to hold your work of art in its place with a finishing hair spray like Kevin Murphy’s Session.Spray. It provides a firm, weightless lasting hold with natural fragrance oils and a UV shield for color protection. It also works to combat high humidity to keep the frizz at bay.

Congratulations! You now have a salon worthy blow-dry and beautiful looking hair! If you have more questions about how to get the perfect blow-dry at home, make an appointment at Garnish with your stylist for “A Lesson.” Through helpful instruction and coaching you will not only learn, but practice and get right your signature style! During this appointment it is advised you bring everything that you use on your hair at home so your stylist can diagnose if your daily regimen is missing any essentials. These lessons also make great gifts for a recent graduate who is hitting the interview circuit, a pre-teen just starting to pay attention to their appearance, or any one is who frustrated with trying to recreate their favorite look!
